Akwaaba - Welcome!

Arrive Kotoka International Airport (Terminal 3) - Accra, Ghana.

Upon your arrival at the airport, you shall be greeted by the representatives of G and G Travel and Tour. They shall provide you with professional assistance in facilitating your transfer from the airport to your designated hotel with brief orientations of the tour.

Overnight at  Hotel Accra  Meals Included: Breakfast and Dinner.

 

DAY 04

CAPE COAST

After breakfast, depart to Cape Coast after your check in at the hotel. You will attend a Naming Ceremony where each person will be given a Ghanaian name by the Chief of the palace. (You must know what DAY of the week you were born       and   you are also required to wear white clothing.) And learn about the cultural dance and it history. Overnight at Hotel Accra. Meals Included: Breakfast and Dinner.

After breakfast at the hotel,we will depart to Assin Manso Slave River Site which was the final link in the slavery route from northern Ghana. It was known to have been the largest slave market for merchants supplying slaves to the forts and castles along the coast. Here the slaves took a rest, were sorted, branded and had their “last bath” before being taken to the castles.

This site has the graves of three Africans who died in the Diaspora and whose mortal remains were brought back. They came from the US, Jamaica and Barbados. There is also a Memorial Wall of Return on which are the portraits of persons who fought for the emancipation of Africans. On this wall there is a section where you can write your name.

CAPE COAST CASTLE

After lunch, we will visit the Cape Coast Castle, which was built by the Swedes in 1653 and later taken over by the British. The castle also houses the West African Historical Museum, established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government in 1994.

KAKUM CANOPY WALKWAY& KAKUM RAIN FOREST – (CAPE COAST)

After breakfast, we will depart to explore Kakum National Park. Kakum is one of West Africa's surviving tropical rain forests, spanning over 360sq km and filled with diverse and dense vegetation. A blend of true rainforest and semi-deciduous forest, Kakum is home to over 40 large mammals, 400 bird species, and a breathtaking array of butterflies, flora, and fauna. The most popular attraction in the forest is the canopy walkway which is made up of seven bridges extending 330m and hanging 40m above the forest floor. You will be given the choice to walk the canopy or enjoy a 2km nature walk through the forest to discover the wide variety of exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer.

After breakfast, spend the remainder day at the hotel and prepare for departure to  Accra  .

After breakfast, spend the remainder of the day packing. Drive to  International Airport to depart to South Africa . Check-in at the hotel will be done by representative of G and G travel and Tour.

Cape Peninsula Tour
